RUSSIAN CONCERT ENSEMBLE

The ensemble of the Russian folk music and dance "BALALAIKA" was formed in 1994 on the Voronezh State Institute of Arts'students initiative. The aim of the group is to acquaint people with the best samples of instrumental music. Russian folk songs and dances. Traditional instruments, such as accordion, balalaikas, percussion instruments and original instruments, such as zhaleikas, reeds, rubels and pilas are widely used in the concert program of hte group.

In repetoire: "Volga Boatmen's Song", "Pedlars", "Down Peterskaya Street", "Kalinka", "Valenki", "The moon is shining", "Oh, balalaika", "Kamarinskaya, "An Old banjo", "Lara's theme from the film-music "Doctor Zhivago" and others.

Ensemble "BALALAIKA" have CD's, videomaterials (PAL SECAM, NTSC), fotos, posters.

The group participated in some international festivals, such as "Great Japanese Sea" (Canazavara, Japan, 1997), "World Youth Musical Forum" (Sapporo, Japan, 1998). The ensemble was fitted the Diplomant of the Intrenational Competition, named by G. Shenderev (Vladivostok, Russsia, 1997, The International Folklore Festival "MAATAF", Jerusalem 2003, Israel, V Festival Internacional "TAMAULIPAS 2003", Mexico, 2003). Musicians and soloist of the ensemble have had successful tours in many countries: Germany, France, the USA, Spain, Great Britain, Tunis, Japan, India, China, Maroc.
